Ok heres what you have to know.

Do well as far as grades go. If you do shi++y, you will regret it junior year when you are thinking about college.

Dont get too caught up in being popular. Make a few good friends. You dont have to like everyone.

Dont act like you are the hottest thing around because you are finally in high school. Also dont try too hard to impress the older kids. It really makes you look immature and pretty much like you are still in middle school. If you are cool, dont try too hard, and dont act like you own the place, then people will like you.

Try to get on the teacher’s good sides. They can really help you out if you run into some trouble at school.

In a nutshell, have fun, try hard on your academics, dont worry too much about popularity, and dont act like you own the place. You will be succesful and most people will get along with you. Good luck.

Also, dont worry about getting lost. It happens to all freshman(myself included) and everyone else is nervous, too.

If it is a large school, it can be a good idea to go for a walking tour during August before school starts. That way, you will have some idea of the layout and find your way around. That takes some of the stress off by worrying if you’ll find the right rooms. Sometimes the teachers are actually there preparing, so you can meet them and see them face-to-face before the sea of faces on the first day. That way you’ll stand out in the crowd with a teacher or so (which can be a good thing!!). Don’t be afraid to greet your teachers as you walk into their classroom–remember, teachers are people also, and are nervous that first week also. If the school gives you the information ahead, you may also be able to find your locker and try out the lock, and other things like that. Check out how long it takes to go from your locker to your classes so you know how often you can exchange books without being late for classes.

The other best tip I have is be organized. If the school doesn’t issue one, get a good assignment notebook or calendar. Keep important things in your head–write assignment pages and details in the notebook. If your high school still sends out a supply list, get what is requested, but realize that some teachers will hand out their own list on the first day, so try to be flexible.

As far as social–smile, be yourself, and enjoy some of the best years in your life!! High school can be very fun and fulfilling, but mostly it depends on what attitude you face it with!

Just be yourself, and don’t be overly critical of yourself. Also, try not to compare yourself to others. Get involved in an activity that you like, and enjoy. I was in yearbook throughout high school, and became the yearbook editor. Find a club, or activity that keeps you active, and making friends. Just walk tall, and you will be fine.
