What college degrees do you need to become a plastic surgeon or anaesthologist?

You’ll need the undergrad (usually a major in some sort of science – chemistry, biology, a combination of the two, other options as well), four years of medical school during which time you’ll need to apply to residency programs, interview with several and hopefully match to one. Anesthesiology is a 4-year residency (plus any fellowship one may decide to pursue after). Surgery – under which plastic surgery falls – is a 5- year residency. If you wish to specialize in plastic surgery, definitely a fellowship should be pursued. All told you’re looking at about 12+ years for anesthesia and 13+ years for plastic surgery (these numbers include pre-med, med school and residency).

You need a full medical degree….Meaning just about the toughest to get and the longest in college. It is a doctorate degree (about 8-10 years)

You are far beter to attend a University over a College.
