Do you sometimes doesn’t understand a sentence when you’re studying?

It’s easier to read fiction novel, i.e. Harry Potter, you don’t have read a sentence two or more times. But in other nonfiction book which you have to study, sometimes you just need to read a sentence two or more times in order to understand it, and you just can’t passed it, because you wouldn’t be able to understand the next topic, if you don’t understand right now.

So, is this always happen? Or now you’re more able to comprehend, how you do that?

Fiction is make believe ~ so whatever you read you interpret the first time it is read. Non-fiction is more difficult because it is TRUE and you have to “get it” in order to move on and understand what’s to come. With practice in comprehension this comes easier. Read more NON-FICTION and you will get better at it. It is the type of writing that makes a difference in your comprehension.

FYI

CORRECT ENGLISH:

don’t understand

to read a sentence

just can’t pass over it

So, does this always happen?

Or now you’re more able to comprehend, (????)

How do you do that (better comprehension)?

I think you may have trouble reading anything because your English is not very good.

Yeah. If the words are hard, I just tend to read them over and over again till I understand the sentence or I fish out the dictionary. Some things are deeper than others and those sentences make you go back and re-read them. But now that I’m older, I’m getting better and it’s because I now understand more words.

yeah!especially when I’m reading books with hard words (you know words that are hard to understand) that sometimes i can’t help but have a dictionary beside me. I’m not that good in English though that i tend to read the sentences over and over and over again. i don’t know, maybe I’m just too engrossed in reading that i don’t focus on the situation or events that are happening in the story but on the words that are used by the author!

1) Learn the vocabulary words of what you will be studying.

2) Keep a dictionary by you, when you read

3) When you understand the English language better, the concepts (ideas) in the book will be easier to understand.
