You don’t have time to prepare your work adequately so you grab for someone else’s work….tada….plagiarism.

Plagiarism is just one possible outcome from poor time management / inadequate planning. That’s if you don’t mind courting trouble. Usually though it takes some effort to plagiarize. People who don’t manage their time or don’t plan well enough may be too lazy for that. Usually their work is just plain not worth reviewing. Sometimes though, creativity can come from poor time management & inadequate planning. It depends on the person and their skills & abilities.

I was thinking about cutting and pasting my answer from wikipedia but I don’t think it’s an accurate enough source.

But seriously, If a professor is going to request that I write a paper that a million other people have written, I would be an idiot not to use that resource. I’m in college, I now how to use resources. When I’m in the workforce they will appreciate my time management skills. I can find what my boss is looking for on the web in an hour. While co-workers spend three days rewriting it. Silly. If you want original work, ask original questions.

Not to mention, there are 5 other professors that want me to spend time on their subject too. Planning ahead means thinking about things early and being orginized. That doesn’t write a paper. It takes time to write a paper without ripping. If you take time for all 6 classes your not going to be doing much else. Instead, rip wisely so other students don’t rip from the same source, get a part time job to pay for all those books your ripping from, and do a little socializing in your free time. Because everyone knows, it’s not what you know, but who you know.

And you know it.

LOL. Well just think about it. Say you are partying, staying out late, and totally neglecting school/work. But then CRAP you realize you have to write a paper or you will fail/get fired. That is where the temptation of plagiarism comes in. It seems easier at the time to cheat. Bad idea!

Because you quote or use a passage from a book or text of another and forget to list it as a source, in your rush to get the paper in on time. Even if it wasn’t done on purpose it is still plagiarism.

Because you start to panic that you are not going to have time to do the project/homework/essay well so you end up finding a ready made one on the net and hand that in instead.

You need to turn in a paper and you have squirrelled it off until it is too late to do your own research.

Believing that the teacher will never notice, you lift, with no alteration, someone else’s work, presenting it as your own

You tend to copy the ideas of other’s when under pressure and time constraints.

Just make sure to put a footnote and credit the author.

I would answer this question, however, I am afraid you would plagiarize the answer and take credit for it.

You start to panic when you are behind and thus you get lazy. You don’t think about what needs to be cited or where you found a bit of information.
