On the other hand, you should do whatever makes you feel like you can succeed, and can make you happy. If you are miserable and you can’t keep up, that isn’t a good thing.
Sorry I can’t tell you what to do, just make a list of pros and cons and then pick the one with the most “pro” and the fewest “con”. That always helps me with difficult decisions.
If you decide to continue homeschooling, please, please, make sure you are enrolled in a homeschool curriculum where you have to learn the basics and take tests. Especially spelling. Not all homeschoolers need this structure, but you apparantly do.
If you go to public school you run a terrible risk of not getting as good an education as you would with a structured homeschool program. I have homeschooled my kids (15 years) and also allowed them to go to public school. The only reason they succeeded so well in public school is because of their homeschool years. They ended up being a lot more ready to learn than the other kids their age.
Whatever you do, make sure you take some standardized tests at the end of the year and see whether you are making improvement according to your grade level.
A school counselor can also help you figure out if you are working at your grade level. They are pretty good at helping students make a transition from homeschool to public school. The counselor is your friend, get to know that person if you do try public school. They want you to succeed. The question is where you can do best, on your own schedule, or on their structure.
When you get to high school, the quality of teaching generally goes way up, so if you can get ready for high school at home, that’s a good option.
I know you want a straight answer and there’s a reason why I can’t give you one. Nearly all the time, I would say “homeschool”, with perhaps trying public school by highschool. But your writing shows that you are a very uneducated person for your age and I’m not sure homeschooling is working well for you. On the other hand, most schools are doing a horrible job at teaching basic spelling and punctuation these days. Look over your homeschool materials and see if that information is easy to find for you to learn at home. If it’s not there, try public school, it won’t be any worse.
P.S. You might try taking this answer to the person monitoring your homeschooling and see what they think. This is NOT a decision you should be making on your own, and if they aren’t aware of that, go to public school and find someone who really cares about your education to help you succeed.
It’s not a choice that you just make…you need to decide if you thrive more in a homeschool environment or a public school environment. Once you reach high school you really need to work hard to get your credits so you can graduate! Are you motivated enough to do this? Do you have the support to help you along? It sounds as if you are being pressured to make a decision ….. write a pros and cons list of both and talk to your parents about it… see if they can give you some solid advice. Good luck
So think to yourself, can i motivate myself to do the work? or do i need the structure a classroom provides
Besides that, there are programs for students in your shoes that does a little bit of home school style crossed with (or combined with) regular school; Special education classes for people that need a slower pace to follow.
Check with your brother and sisters school on paced education schooling and this should help you gain a foothold on your studies and getting better grades too!
