When you complete the FAFSA you complete the information based on the date that it was signed. If you were married after, then when you complete the FAFSA for the 0809 school year you would include your new marital status.
If you are classified as a Dependent student right now, then getting married would mean your status would change to Independent. Some schools may consider an appeal to have your dependency status changed for a FAFSA that has already been submitted; a lot won’t.
Your EFC will change based on your classification of Dependent or Independent. Especially if you are Dependent and your parents make some good money; as an Independent you would not have to include parental income, so it would most likely lower your EFC and make you more eligible for more aid.
You will need to talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information.

it will change if you get married because that changes your dependency status (unless you are also over 25). you would have to change your application to independent, using both yours and your spouse’s income taxes to uncover your EFC (expected family contribution). during the school year i do not believe it would change until the next year. ask your financial aid office to be sure. you will be eligible for more loans as independent than dependant. again, though, if you are already over 25 nothing will change this year.
