You need to learn theory to understand how scales and key signatures work, then you’ll know what chords to play in what key, and how to transpose (change keys).

Chords are the same for piano and guitar. Chords are simply groups of notes. So, if you downloaded something that gives you the chords for the key of D on guitar, you can use those on piano too. Your 3 major chords in every key are the basis for modern songwriting. In D, that’s the D chord, the G chord, and the A chord. F# minor and B minor are really common too, in the key of D.

Just start putting chords after one another and find a sound you like. Experiment!

Hello! No small task you want here my friend, and it would take way to long to even start to write down a good enough answer. What you should do, is to go to a music-store where they have instruments and notes for keyboard, guitar, violin you name it they should have it. There you ask one of the employees about a good book for each instrument you want to learn. I don`t know the English word for “Besifring” but it is a system for piano chord playing or something like that. However, I would strongly advise you to take at least a few lessons with a good teacher on both instruments, because by yourself it is very easy to learn the “wrong” ways to do things, and a good teacher learns you how to sit and how to hold your arms, hands etc. That will help you a lot, making the home study so much more easy afterwords. You don`t have to take more than a couple of hours with each, but of course, a good teacher make progress that much easier and he/she knows how far you are and gives you homework form you to do. I was getting piano lessons for nearly twelve years and I have been playing ever since. I have learned the guitar mostly by my self and a magazine called Guitar Techniques, they have all you need to learn, but take a lesson or two, then go on for your own! have a great summer, good luck, peace and love from Norway.
