Does this quotation from the ‘Nuremberg Diary’ sound unnerringly familiar to you?
“Why of course, the people don’t want war…But, after all, it is the leaders of the country that determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a Democracy or a Fascist Dictatorship or a Parliment or a Communist Dictatorship….Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and are exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country”.
Hermann Goering (Hitlers successor)

Sounds like something the cowardly Dubya would say if he understood the concept and could string that many words together AND if he were to tell the truth.
Obviously he could never say that but he could read that to his mates at Big Oil.

Goering wasn’t Hitler’s successor. He ran the air force.

Yes it does, as it no doubt did then. We never really learn as it seems to be how society works – the power of many is shared by a few!
