Studying to Teach, how, when and where to start?

In other areas, volunteer, or internship… some paid some not paid.
In other cases, being a teacher assistant (which for me was because I was a lead student), but in other places is a real job working for a teacher..
You could try substitute teaching (it pays rather well here), or you could work in homework assistance programmes (these, however, are usually unpaid). Children’s hospitals and hospices might need teachers for kids in long-term care; these are usually connected to school boards (and emotional attachment becomes a problem).
Some public and private schools might need tutors for some students, or check with an agency that recruits tutors – they don’t usually pay a lot. Or, you could advertise your services as a tutor.
There is no sure-fire way to get started in this career. Make yourself know to boards or private schools, and that means subbing and take just about anything, whatever you can handle. Go to schools you’re interested in and set up a meeting to speak with the principal.
