P.T. Assistant program problems.?
I was initially accepted to the p.t. assistant program at Cerritos college last year. However, approximately 3 mo.s before the start of the program, I wa notified by letter that my application was being denied because I was missing 2 classes according to my transcripts. I submitted all the required applications and transcripts 2 years prior to this and was confirmed to be in the program. Has anybody else had this experience with their schooling? This is why I think people have stopped going to school for higher education because the system here is so complicated it almost seems like they do it on purpose. What can antone do to assure that they have completed all the pre-requisites before hand as opposed to finding out that the schools have ” changed the rules in the middle of the game” so to speak?

Make sure you check the website to find out all pre-requisites courses and talk with an adviser from the department. They can do a transcript check and tell you everything you need to take before starting the program. If you were confirmed to be in the PTA program then you should have taken all the pre-req courses so there shouldn’t be a problem. I would talk with an adviser very soon. Don’t just assume the letter is correct.

This is not necessarily uncommon. The bigger the college or university, the more likely things like this happen. Similar to any system or business. You have to watch your back. You keep track constantly. This is your life….and a college degree can make or break your life. It could be that this is why some people don’t go on to get college degrees. But if they don’t…..who pays? As the gospel song says, ‘Nobody told me the road would be easy…’ Keep going….. Complain……Apply at another school. I’m not saying what happened was right, but alot of life can be unfair. Getting what you need can be a struggle…….universities are disorganized. You can get similar stories from people who thought they were graduating ….and found out that (surprise!) they were missing a class…..and they need to take the class (to graduate). If they’re lucky, the class is offered the next semester. Otherwise, they will be graduating a year later than they (and their family) thought they were. I’ve heard people in this situation say, “Scre_ them! I’m not going through this”. And all I can think is, “The school is not the one who will be scre___, you are….without a degree”
