What is a non accredited degree in the USA?

Many colleges have not been accredited (endorsed) by a major standards organization. This is particularly true when a new college is added at a university (school of medicine, school of law, etc). It can take several years to pass committee review.
It is the obligation of employers and postgrad schools to determine if an applicants credentials are satisfactory.
The term ‘non-accredited’ in this context describes all provision in the Learning and Skills sector that does not lead to a qualification or to an externally-accredited certificate. ‘Externally accredited’ means that the certificate is awarded by an organisation independent of the provider of the programme.
