Try to take the easiest ones since most of these classes you will never use again. Or try to take the ones that will help you down the road in your major. I took Speech and Business Writing to make me more comfortable in the business world and in interviewing.
Go to www.ratemyprofessors.com to find out which classes and professors are easy.
Try to keep your GPA as high as possible so you will be able to apply for scholarships and it will look better when you start applying for internships and a job after you graduate or if you want to apply to a grad school.
If working part-time, then part-time status to full time depending on your courses so it be 2-6 classes.
If your not working at all, then get full time status 4-6 classes
Some colleges use this formula
For every class hour of lecture in class, multiply by two for study and homework. So lets say if your taking 4 courses about 4-5 hours of lecture depending on the class, lets say 5 multiply by two for study and homework, it will come out to 10hours of study time a week. So use this formula when choosing classes
If your looking for classes to choose, for your freshman year coming up. You won’t really have a choice, as your advisor will help you choose whats best for you.
Then, my opinion, is to only take as many of the others that are required of you. It is o.k. to take one or two in your later years. Sometimes it is good to have a break from your regular major during the remainder of your college career.
My first Year courses were…
Business 101
Law 101 (half semester)
Management 101 (half semester)
Calculus I
Writing I
IT 101
