I believe dental school is 4 years, then I’d assume you have to do some sort of residency, but if you started your practice by the time you were 33-35, you’d still have 30 years worth of work ahead of you. I say that’s worth it.

Don’t go through the motions of life and then realize when you’re 60, “man, I wish I had become a dentist”. 27 isn’t old, although it’s probably older than the average person starting dental school. You have your whole life ahead of you, make the most of it.

He practiced 40 years before retiring comfortably. He retired at 72 and lives very well. He was mayor of the town, church deacon, president of the country club, and a great father and husband.

The key to his life was avoiding extra debt like the plague. The world needs dentists. A little business knowledge sure won’t hurt either.
