In the US – a degree has become a right where it used to be a privelege. Further, diversity policies have given great deference to low performing students in order to move them through university – the hypocracy of which is obvious and well known and contributes to the belief that everyone has that they are well on their way to being worth less and certainly not an indicator or competance or merit. However, since they ARE so easy to get – if a person intending to work for an employer does not have one good luck getting a job. BUT – they are useless to the self taught person who plans to work for themselves. The great failure of the american educational system is that it prepares people to work for others ..in this sense it is useless .. Most of american education is a waste of time and money – in is an indoctrine prison for compelled teaching of radical liberal unamerican ideas .

Degrees are only useless when they are wasted. Get a degree in bussiness administration and go to work laying bricks because it pays more makes that degree useless and someone’s money wasted. The purpose of getting a degree is to learn something you intend to carry with you throughout your life. Many people put too much emphasis on a degree though. A degree these days simply could mean that your parents had enogh money to send you, and if you don’t learn anything but ‘liberal arts’ you will have a degree to flash around. Doesn’t mean you can stick to a hard task, most college courses are only slightly more difficult than high school. Thing to learn in college is “HOW TO THINK FOR YOURSELF”. If you don’t do that, it’s all a waste of time, energy, and money.

NO, NOPE, absolutely not!

Without a degree, you have to work harder to advance yourself in any corporate-type of position. (It doesn’t mean that people who have succeeded w/o a degree are less worthy- sometimes they are much more so!- it is just harder).

It is also a key to allow you to be or do anything you want…!

If you have the time to get a degree, do it! I’m an IT director, but was a Fine Arts undergrad. I had to work really hard at getting a MS at night after work, but it’s paid off and I love my job 🙂 – loving your job is such a wonderful thing and I have to say that I’m glad that I spent the time to get through university!

School might seem silly or like you’re learning something stupid, but even the small things that you pick-up in college will suddenly present themselves at weird times and out of nowhere, you know the answer! Any opportunity to learn is useful!

GO- do it! Invest in yourself- knowledge is something that nobody can ever take from you! It’s yours forever!

Good luck!!!

Degrees are not useless. They don’t necessarily mean that you know anything. However they do show that you can start a difficult, long term task, and complete it successfully. This is a very important bit of information for employers.

Getting a degree means that you have some knowledge in those subjects which you have chosen. So it is not a waste.

Not the kind that come from Universities 🙂

Here’s an exercise for you.

One column, list the jobs that require an education, and the other column list the jobs that don’t. Then highlight the jobs that you would like to have.
