How many college credits do you have to have to be a Sophomore?

At the school I went to, Boston U, 12 credits or more was considered full time, while 18 credits was the max they allowed you to take per semester, with classes being 4 credits each, and hobby classes such as martial arts or dance as 2 credits. There was an expectation of 32 credits per year with the possibility of dropping out of about 1 class every two years if you had personal difficulties or too much difficulty with a class combination. You would need to fulfill main major requirements along with your liberal arts requirements, which can be between 108 and 124 credits (3.5 to 4 years).
You should really only be worrying about entering as a sophomore if you are pressed for money, as after you graduate with certain degrees you will not really be hurting for money to pay back loans with.
If using semester hours, all colleges and universities I am familiar with consider you a sophomore after you have successfully completed 30 semester hours.
