If I got a degree at a college that eventually either A: closes its doors or B: looses its accreditation?

Is my degree no longer valid?

No, your degree is still valid because you got it. It would be different if you never graduated because those un finished credits wouldn’t be valid- but your degree of course will always be valid. Think about your grandparents, there are a lot of high schools that aren’t around anymore but it doesn’t mean they don’t have a diploma now does it?

One of my instructors was from a program that lost its accreditation. It wasn’t a problem for her because as a Respiratory Therapist, she had to take and pass standardized national tests before she received her license. If you will have a piece of paper from a body other than your school that says what you achieved, I don’t think it would be a problem. The college she attended lost their Respiratory program because at that time (about a year ago) they were found to be lacking enough to lose their accreditation. That does not reflect upon past graduates.

Wouldn’t that chap you if the school shut down while you were attending it and you couldn’t transfer anything from there? That would be pretty awkward.

for the shredder!

She said high schools cmon,

If your college LOST accreditation, that would be the same as letting a person in bankruptcy prepare your taxes, my be OK for some, but most companies investigate your credential, to many degree mills, you can be a Doctorate over night FEDEX it to you.
