I have heard that Arabic is a very difficult language to learn, and is completely different than English. Not many colleges offer Arabic. That is really amazing that yours does! Spanish is similar in some areas to Spanish, and is easier for an English speaker to learn, but learning any language is difficult.

You should think about what kind of work you would want to do after graduation. With knowledge of the Spanish language, you could work in both foreign and domestic areas, since so many people in the US speak Spanish now. It would be helpful for education, health care, business, travel. Arabic is a language very centralized to one location, so it would be help full in international relations with a major in political science, or international business. You may be forced to live in big cities that are centers of international activity, to use the Arabic language.

What a great position to be in. So many these days think it is too much to have to study their native language. You do not state where you are or what your ultimate career goal is and these issues would play important roles. Spanish is an influential language in all regions of the former Spanish empire while Arabic plays an influential role in the middle east plus has important scholastic applications for the study of the middle ages and ancient literary studies. Many ancient documents can not be had in their originals but can be found in Arabic translations. Having said all that, how about considering studying linguistics or a general language program and pick up both languages. If your good enough at languages to study either Arabic or Spanish go the next step and study both. Since Spain was a crucial meeting point between ancient Roman and Islamic empires both languages could have important application to the study of issues increasingly relevant today.

Ideally you should study both as they would open up at least a third of the world to you. But if you have time constraints, I would study Arabic. Spanish is spoken by a lot of people and there are many English speakers competent in Spanish and vice versa. The same cannot be said of Arabic which means that you have less competition in the job market. Especially if you decide to go into politics or the foreign service, being competent speaker off a less popular language can give you an edge.

Of course, ultimately you have to decide which will hold your interest the longest. No point in studying something that’s a chore to learn.

I’ve taken Spanish for four years now due to the fact that I proposal it might aid me within the US because such a lot of ppl talk it. But the one position ull use it’s in California or Texas. I’m additionally fluent in Arabic because I’m Lebanese, and it’s fitting very general now. With the entire on going clash within the Mideast, the US executive is consistently watching for translators and ppl who’re proficient in Arab tradition and language. You must obviously check out Arabic if you happen to desire just a little of a venture and a amusing revel in that may relate to present parties. It is a lovely, flowery language that flows so easily that it seems like poetry. Arabic might be extra amusing to make use of at the moment- simply feel, if u noticed any one speakme Arabic on CNN u would be capable to grasp what they are announcing. How fascinating and valuable is that!!

It all depends upon what you want to do. I’d recommend Arabic if you plan on going into anything government related or are interested in the military. Spanish is awesome for everyday American life and if you plan on going into business for example.
