Becoming a nurse in Houston, TX, any advice???
How long will it take to get a degree, LVN vs. RN, I will be starting from scratch as none of my credits will transfer.
I am a stay at home mom right now, so I can attend classes online or in the evening, and I would like to include the summer as well.
Do I have to complete the basic credits before I start the nursing program, or would it be all in one? How long does each class last (how many hours per class, how many months does the class go on)?
Thanks for any help!! I’m really new at getting back to the whole college thing!

Yes, You will probably have to complete all your basic courses before you begin clinicals. Each class is a semester long, which runs about 4 1/2 months. Summer classes meet more frequently, but are significantly shorter, lasting about 10 weeks. Class credit hours will vary from about 2 – 4 hours.
All of those details will depend on the college you attend. I recommend going to a local community college and talking with an admissions counselor. They will help point you in the right direction. I think community colleges are a great place to start because they are typically more understanding of a non traditional students lifestyle and needs.
Going back to school can be intimidating at first. And Nursing School is tough. There’s alot to do But, if you want it bad enough it can be done. Hope that Helps!!!
