my state rank is 27015 in engineering in general category?shll i drop a year?

i gave my exam without preparation for a try. although my father has some links and he can get me admitted into a college that is somewhat good on state level.but i know that i have the potential . did quiet well in my 10 and 12 boards.shall i drop a year and prepare thoroughly and get into a college that has national reputation or its better to get into that college i’m getting and is “good on state level”? is it better to stand on my own feet or take help of my fathers position?although i’ll work hard but still i cannot guarantee if i’ll be selected for nits and IITS but still shall i give it a try because i’m confident and my life depend on it?is it better to grasp the good college i’m getting right now or prepare and get into the most worthy college? plz ans in great detail?plzzzzzzz

First off, taking a very important exam without preparation says something about you. You may BELIEVE you have potential to do good work, but blowing off a exam tells everyone else you do not care about your education. Just telling everyone you’re smart isn’t enough – you need action, and your actions speak otherwise.

Second, whatever school you get into, you will have to “stand on your own two feet”. At a top university, you will be competing against students who take study VERY seriously, who will tear you apart if you decide not to study. Daddy’s position won’t help you with that. Are you REALLY prepared to take on that challenge?

IF you’re serious, and you really think you can achieve on your own level, then it may be best to take the year off, because the top employers pay top dollar to the best graduates from the best universities. It will be hard, and no one will cut you any slack because you were too lazy to study and thought you were smarter than everyone else – but if you’re up to it, get into the hardest program you can get into and do the best you can do.

It’s always best to study in a college with reputation, but what really matters is that you do an internship or a coop program while you’re at college. You can study in the best engineering university in the country, that if you don’t have any job experience when you graduate, is useless.

If you are confident that you can do better, you should wait another year, but you have to realize that you are going to lose one full year of study, and it’s not 100% sure that you will get a better score. There’s nothing wrong in accepting your dad’s help, everyone needs help every once in a while. Once you’re in college, it doesn’t matter how you got there, because everyone is there for the same reason: to get a diplomma.
