Well it depends. If you’re going to a college on the semester system, one class is USUALLY 3-4 units. Sometimes, 5, sometimes, even 6 or more (but that’s usually just for nursing and other specialized training hands-on type of courses). Also there are courses that are only 1 or 2 units.

In case you care, it seems like the average at a school that’s on the quarter system is 3 units, but that is only equal to 2.667 semester units.

So for 6-7 units, you’re looking at about 2 classes. 18 units, is anywhere from 4-6 classes.

Generally, the highest number of units for any one class is 5 units (math and science) and as few as a half a unit (some PE courses). The are some specialized courses that are more, but they are usually intensive courses and is the only course you have and rarely more than 12 units..
