journalism and maybe even get some photography experience to make yourself stand out amongst other journalists. You could write and photograph your own articles.

Journalism or English–if you’re a generalist. If you know you want to write on a particular topic like US history, skateboarding, or health and beauty, a major in a related field and a minor in English or Journalism might work best. If you are not sure, you might try English or Journalism and pick up a relevant minor somewhere. The great thing is that you have a couple of semesters to change your course of study.

Based on how you wrote that, I would suggest English – with a minor in journalism. If you have a specific style of magazine in mind, you might see if you can contact one of the editors of a small time magazine of this type, and see what they did. That would be a good jumping point, I would venture to guess.
