Writers out there, how many words would you recommend for a first time novel I am writing?
I have always enjoyed reading a good trilogy of novels from my favorite fantasy author R.A. Salvatore. I am working on my first novel now, have about 25k words and was wondering if something like a trilogy would be in my best interest at this point? Being it is my first novel I don’t want to over-extend myself, but at the same time I am really beginning to enjoy my characters as they take on a persona of their own. Thanks!!

If you are looking for publication, your book needs to be at least 60,000 words.
I have written several books and still remain unpublished as most authors. I recommend looking up the site ‘asolute write’ and join their discussion board. Lots and LOTS of good information just like this, plus much more.

other than the minimum number required, don’t count
— write and quit at the logical end of your story or a got
break spot in your trilogy.
