What does the word ‘virgin’ really mean?

I’m serious. Is a ‘virgin’ someone who’s never had sex before, which if was the case, I’d feel sorry for that person, or just someone who’s pure of heart, soul, and childlike in every way?

(for those of you who don’t understand the point of the question, I’ll give you a hint: Mary)

It could mean ‘untouched’, ‘unsoiled’, but usually means one who has never had sex. Hymen intact.

A virgin is indeed a person who has never had sexual intercourse. It can also mean a “pure” person, but that’s a secondary meaning in most dictionaries.

As to the virginity of Mary in the Christian scriptures, that’s not my personal belief, so I’ll leave that to you to decide.

I’m a married women now for 7 years and very proud to be, however to me the word virgin means that the person has a very high self esteem that she/he does not have the need to be like their friends. It means that she/he feels they are very much worth waiting for, and that special day will be an amazing day if not the most important day of their lives, that day of which not to many young ones these days will ever feel (MARRIAGE). A VIRGIN is someone who says to themselves “I should not have to prove to any opposite sex if I love them this way, but they should prove to me that they love me by waiting”! So for all you virgins out there “YOU R WORTH WAITING FOR” and if someone tells you other then they are not truly your friend!

‘virgin’ in medical terms refers to the fact that the hymen inside the vagina is still in its place.. this hymen breaks when a penis penetrates but can also be broken by other alien objects.. so a person cud be a virgin without being one(no sex but masterbation) ..

in case of mary.. in verrrrryyyy verrryyy rare cases .. it is evident that sometimes women become pregnant without actually having an intercourse.. the semen might end up somewhere far from the inside vagina but still make it to the egg…

Mary’s case is unsolved and being a muslim i only belive without asking wats written in my books.. god planted prophet jesus in her womb.. if u belive it, good.. if u dont, ur choice

Mary didn’t have sex but she became pregnant by God. The first meaning applies.
