What does it mean?
Hi, everyone! I’m reading a book in which the guy says: “He’d always been the one zero his age who actually enjoyed having a part-time job at a supermarket.”
What does “the one zero his age”???

I think he means the only “zero” his age as in the opposite of hero. You know, zero like a nobody or a worthless person.

I agree with her. I think what is meant is the “speaker” is describing him as the single worthless person in his age group. And demeaning everyone who ever enjoyed his job in a supermarket, or any retail evironment for that matter.
So the “one” is not used as a number, nor is “zero.” In other words, it means “single loser his age” rather than “1-0 his age.”

Yep the others are correct. It means “loser”.
